In the highly-anticipated season finale of Black Cake, Eleanor makes her final cake as she nears the end of her life.

In this exclusive clip below, Eleanor (Chipo Chung) searches for her black cake recipe as she feels her battle with cancer is drawing to a close. Byron (Ashley Thomas) comes in and tries to help her.

The clip looks like the start of the culmination of everything Byron and Benny (Adrienne Warren) have been through as they learned about their mother after her death. As fans of the series are aware, Eleanor’s decades-long story takes her from her native Jamaica and across the world, including Rome, Scotland, England and southern California.

According to Hulu:

In the late 1960s, a runaway bride named Covey disappears into the surf off the coast of Jamaica and is feared drowned or a fugitive on the run for her husband’s murder. Fifty years later in California, a widow named Eleanor Bennett, loses her battle with cancer, leaving her two estranged children, Byron and Benny, a flash drive that holds previously untold stories of her journey from the Caribbean to America. These stories, narrated by Eleanor, shock her children and challenge everything they thought they knew about their family’s origin.

The series is based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name by Charmaine Wilkerson and is adapted by Marissa Jo Cerar, who also serves as showrunner. Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Films and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment produce.

The series finale of Black Cake comes to Hulu on Dec. 6.
