Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, is going to college, where he will ultimately play basketball next season and has the college basketball world in a tizzy. LeBron has made it clear his main goal is to play with Bronny, who will be a rookie for the 2024-25 season.

As the son of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer wraps up his senior year, his college decision looms. USC is the rumored front-runner to land the five-star player, and that speculation has only grown this week.

Ranked 19th in the ESPN 100 for the Class of 2023 and ninth nationally by On3, the 18-year-old, 6’3″, 190-pound combo guard is rated a 4-star prospect and the No. 33 overall recruit in the 2023 class by 247Sports. He has proved to be highly valuable at Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California, averaging a solid 14 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game during his senior season.

Bronny has confirmed offers from the USC Trojans, Ohio State Buckeyes, Kentucky Wildcats, Oregon Ducks, Memphis Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, North Carolina A&T Aggies and North Carolina Central Eagles. Bronny was expected to commit to the Trojans earlier this month officially.

That said, Bronny may have given fans a spoiler as to which team he is joining earlier this week. Bronny was spotted sitting with USC assistant Athletic Director Gavin Morris and football head coach Lincoln Riley at the Los Angeles Lakers Game 4 Playoffs matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

The signs point to Bronny being a Trojan next season, with many in the college basketball world taking to social media to continue speculating.

If Bronny does commit, he would be the third recruit in the 2023 class that USC has gotten inside the top 40 of ESPN’s recruiting rankings. That includes the No. 1 ranked recruit, Isaiah Collier.

“Too many stars are aligning. The biggest one is LeBron isn’t going to send his kid all the way to Columbus, OH… He wants to play with Bronny, and [at USC], he can walk into [head coach] Andy Enfield’s office and try to control matters to make sure he has the best shot to be able to move quickly to the NBA,” sports analyst Jeff Goodman said in a recent podcast.

Bronny has fans at the edge of their seats waiting on a decision. It remains to be seen if the Trojans are indeed the choice.

During training for the upcoming Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Oregon, Bronny spoke to the media about being recruited by the top teams in the country.

“Talking to them, talking to the coaches, it’s good to know they want me there with them,” he said. “But at the end of the day, it’s my decision, and I need to make the right one for me.”
