Daniel Kaluuya’s Spider-Punk is getting his own film.
Kaluuya, who voiced the character in the Sony Pictures Animation film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, is developing and writing the film with Ajon Singh.
The character, Hobie Brown, will be the center of the film, and we can assume that the film will focus on how Hobie became Spider-Man in his alternate British punk universe. But officially, details of the plot haven’t been nailed down or shared with the public.
The character is a ‘Spider-Verse’ fan-favorite
The character quickly became a fan-favorite Spider-Man variant during Across the Spider-Verse‘s theatrical run.
In Across the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and several variants of Spider-Man (including Issa Rae’s Spider-Woman) try to save the universe from the Spot (Jason Schwartzman), a man-turned interdimensional being who can travel to other universes through the black hole spots on his body.
On top of that, Spider-Man variant Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac) wants to take Miles out because of the threat he poses to the other Spider-People’s lives and universes.
When does ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ hit theaters?
The last in the Spider-Man animated trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is expected in the theaters on June 25, 2027.
