For some time now, there has been some animosity brewing between DJ Akademiks and Lil Baby. In 2020 through 2021, several tweets from DJ Akademiks eluded to him being a huge fan of the Atlanta rapper with him referring to him as the hip hop’s MVP of 2020 and showing love to Baby’s “Emotionally Scarred” track.

However, at some point, things took a turn and it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when things began to go south between the two.

According to Akademiks, his main account was blocked by Lil Baby and that left him feeling slighted. In a recent Twitch stream the blogger said, “All these rappers are very in their feelings… Of all the rappers I’m beefing with, none of them blocked me. Lil Baby blocked me.”

Now, after their tension has continued to build, and the two have gone back and forth, Lil Baby has put their feud on wax. On his new 23-track album, There’s Only Me, Baby makes mention of the blogger twice.

On “From Now On,” featuring Future, Lil Baby raps,  “Akademiks know he ain’t as rich as me,” allegedly referencing times in which the blogger-turned-podcaster said that he he made more money than him.

In another song, “Top Priority,” he also mentions Akademiks, saying, “Akademiks n****s think they can’t get touched/ Ion be on computers much, CED turnt me on to youtube / I keep tryna tell em I’m different from what they used to.”

DJ Akademiks caught wind of the alleged disses and took to social media.

“I heard le Bebe shouted me out twice in da album? Wat he say y’all pmo,” he posted before sharing clips of the song. He then accused the rapper of choosing to diss him instead of the Fulton County DA, Fani Willis.

“Lil Baby dissed me instead of Fani Willis (DA of fulton county) and his real opps.. What is Rap music,” he wrote.

You may recall, Fani Willis has made it her mission to make an example out of rappers by using their lyrics against them. Rap lyrics are being used as evidence against Young Thug and Gunna in their current RICO case.

To add insult to injury, DJ Akademiks is now threatening to snitch on Lil Baby should the opportunity ever arise.

“You know who would love to know about n****s getting touched? Fani Willis,” Akademiks said in a recent Twitch stream.

He continued, “Y’all get locked up on a RICO, I’m in court saying, ‘He said I can get touched.’ Real talk. ‘That n**** said I can get touched,’ I’m showing up to court with a walkman. I’m in fear for my life. Judge, you know what to do. Bond denied!”

On Mondays episode of The Breakfast Club, Lil Baby got candid about his issues with Akademiks and what he meant by the shots taken on his new album.

According to Lil Baby, only one of the songs was a direct shot at the blogger, the other was just a metaphor.

The rapper doesn’t consider his bar in “Top Priority” an attack on the 31-year-old. He explained to the hosts that the lyric was about internet trolls rather than Akademiks personally.

“I said ‘Akademiks n*****s think they can’t get touched’ meaning somebody that be on the computer all day, it wasn’t really saying him,” Lil Baby explained.

Lil Baby went on to explain what prompted him to mention Akademiks in “From Now On.”

“Then, I seen another interview where he said, ‘rappers broke and lease their cars,’ stop playing bro,” he said.

Charlamagne echoed his sentiments, saying, “Never in my mind did I think to compare y’all financially.”

“He do all the time though,” Lil Baby added.

Lil Baby also shared that he heard about the interview by way of his son, which he did not like.

“This is what pisses me off, when my son shows me something,” he said.

Needless to say, this beef is far from over.
