It’s been nearly three decades since Adam Sandler’s 1996 cult classic Happy Gilmore hit screens, solidifying its place as one of the comedian’s most beloved films. Now, Netflix is gearing up to give fans the sequel they’ve been waiting for: Happy Gilmore 2.

The streaming platform surprised fans on Christmas Day with the release of the trailer for the upcoming comedy. In the sneak peek, Sandler reprises his role as Happy Gilmore, rocking his iconic hockey jersey and showing off his signature slapshot-style swing to a roaring crowd. Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, making his big-screen debut, is also featured in the trailer, announcing Happy’s return.

“It’s good to have you back, Mr. Gilmore,” Kelce says in the teaser. Bad Bunny and rapper Kid Cudi are also set to appear. Additionally, The Substance star Margaret Qualley, Sandler’s frequent collaborator Nick Swardson, and Uncut Gems co-director Benny Safdie will join the ensemble cast.

As People noted, Eminem is rumored to make a standout appearance in the film as well, though Sandler has kept the details under wraps, teasing only that the rapper’s performance is “not one to miss.”

Netflix officially announced Happy Gilmore 2 back in May 2024, following speculation stirred by Christopher McDonald, who plays Shooter McGavin in the original movie. McDonald hinted at a potential sequel in a March interview, delighting fans of the franchise.

Like its predecessor, Sandler co-wrote the script with longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy. The highly anticipated sequel is slated for release on Netflix in December 2025, promising to bring Happy Gilmore back to the greens — and into the hearts of fans once more.
