Before her life was cut short at the young age of 22, singer and actress Aaliyah had shown signs that she would be the next triple threat in the entertainment industry. With three acclaimed albums, Aaliyah was also featured on the big screen in roles like Romeo Must Die and Queen Of The Dammed. In addition, she also attached to star in movies such as The Matrix and Sparkle.

For years, it has been long-reported that Aaliyah was to star in the 2003 film Honey are being put to rest. Famed director Billie Woodruff, who was first known for directing popular music videos for Toni Braxton, Usher and more, helmed the film in his feature directorial debut.

In an interview with Rated R&B, Woodruff revealed that Aaliyah wasn’t set to start in the film. This fun fact about the film has been misreported for years.

“That’s incorrect. It was supposed to be Beyoncé. That’s been widely reported but it’s incorrect,” she said. “She couldn’t do it because of her touring schedule for her first album Dangerously In Love.”

Jessica Alba ended up landing the role in the film which was a box office success and is now a cult classic, despite receiving less than favorable critic reviews.
