Nico Parker and Mason Thames are the live-action Astrid and Hiccup in the trailer and first look for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Universal/Dreamworks’ animated film, How to Train Your Dragon.
The new teaser shows how the Viking village of Berk looks transformed into a live-action setting. The film promises the same heartwarming storytelling with Dean DeBlois, the writer and director of the original animated film, adapting and directing the live-action version. Gerard Butler also reprises his role as Chief Stoick the Vast. Nick Frost also stars as the village’s blacksmith Gobber.
As with the animated film, Hiccup is part of a world in which dragons and Vikings have been at odds for generations. But things change when Hiccup befriends Toothless, a Night Fury dragon who is one of the most feared of all dragons. The friendship challenges Hiccup’s village and generations of tradition. Hiccup and Toothless’ friendship becomes the solution against an ancient threat that threatens both Viking and dragon life.
The film also stars Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz and Murray McArthur.
How to Train Your Dragon comes to theaters June 13.
