The first trailer for Is This Thing On? shows Will Arnett trying out the stand-up comedy life amid family drama in the film from Bradley Cooper that also stars Cooper, Andra Day and Laura Dern.

The trailer for the Searchlight Pictures film features Arnett’s character Alex getting up in front of an expectant crowd to tell what he called “funny stories from my life.” Those stories are poignant reflections on his deteriorating relationship with his wife Tess (Dern).

What will ‘Is This Thing On?’ be about?

As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex (Will Arnett) faces middle age and an impending divorce, seeking new purpose in the New York comedy scene while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family—forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form.

The film also stars Cooper, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds and Scott Icenogle.

Arnett also serves as co-writer with Cooper and Mark Chappell and producer with Weston Middleton and Kris Thykier.
