Latto is the first rapper to reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this year. She was recently featured on BTS member Jungkook’s debut solo single, “Seven.” The music video has been viewed 102 million times on YouTube, and the track has been streamed over 154 million times on Spotify since its July 14 release.
The rapper took to Instagram to celebrate the news with her fans.
“Oop, am I a bora girl now?” she wrote in her Instagram Stories. “Forever grateful!! Thanks, JK, for trusting me! Armypots up +10000.”
Latto is the first rapper to score a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 this year. At this time last year, Jack Harlow, Future, and Drake had all reached the prized top spot, according to Billboard.
This also marks Latto’s very first No. 1 hit on the chart. She had reached the top 10 with “Big Energy,” which snagged the No. 3 spot in April 2022, reported Billboard.
The rapper reflected on the popularity of women rappers in the industry right now.
“There are so many females that are flourishing right now, and it’s very raw, uncut, authentic, like a take-me-for-who-I-am type of energy,” she told Insider. “Southern female rap, especially, has a strong presence right now. There are so many women from the South taking over and just being unapologetically themselves.”

Latto also shared her first impressions upon hearing the single.
“As soon as I heard it, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is outta here. What can I add?’ I was literally like, ‘What can I add? It’s already a hit.’ But, yeah, I did my little thing,” she said.
“He was so nice and very genuine and humble,” she added of Jungkook. “The whole experience has been very fun. His fan base, oh my gosh, they really are an army.”
Congratulations Latto!
