Black Lightning star Marvin Jones III is heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadline reports that Jones will star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day as villain Tombstone. Sony and Marvel haven’t commented on the casting.
Jones has also voiced Tombstone in the Sony animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and he is set to reprise the role in the third film in the series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
What to know about the Marvel character Tombstone?
The comic book character is an African-American man with albinism and sharpened teeth who terrorizes New York City as a crime boss. He also served as Kingpin’s most trusted hitman. In later comic books, Tombstone gets superpowers after an incident at an Oscorp chemical plant. In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Tombstone is the head security at Fisk Industries and serves as Kingpin’s personal bodyguard.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has paused shooting after star Tom Holland suffered a concussion. Filming is set to resume Sept. 29. The film is directed by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton and also stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas and Mark Ruffalo.
