Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has premiered its trailer to excited fans at New York Comic Con on Friday.

The production team behind the Apple TV+ series, including executive producers Chris Black, Matt Fraction, Tory Tunnell, Andy Goddard (who also directed), casting director Ronna Kress and VFX supervisor Sean Konrad gave fans a preview of what to expect with entertainment journalist Scott Mantz moderating the conversation.

The series follows the current Godzilla story after Godzilla destroyed San Francisco. Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell star as characters who learn the truth behind the legendary monster. According to the official description:

Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

The series also stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

Matt Shakman directs the first two episodes of the series and also executive produces with Brad Van Arragon, Andrew Colville, Tory Tunnell (who, along with Harold runs Safehouse Pictures) and Toho Co., Ltd’s Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita. Toho has also licensed the rights to the Godzilla character to Legendary, which is behind the current string of Godzilla films including Godzilla vs. Kong, starring Brian Tyree Henry.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters comes to Apple TV+ Nov. 17 with episodes debuting until its Jan. 12 season finale.
