Black Compass Media interviewed the Bronx rapper about her latest endeavors, including her new female battle rap league, Chrome 23.
While on the topic of female rappers, Remy was asked if she had ever tried to work with Doja Cat, which Remy revealed her fanbase “came for [her] life.”
“Don’t even bring her up. I thought I was giving [her] a compliment,” Remy said. “Her whole entourage or fan base came for my life. I was like, ‘I thought I said something good.’ I just woke up one morning like, ‘What the f**k I did now? Like, damn.”
In March, Remy Ma appeared on the Drink Champs podcast with N.O.R.E and DJ EFN, where she gave compliments to Doja Cat but said she did not believe Doja is a rapper.
“I don’t think she’s a rapper,” Remy said. “Let’s be clear with that. I don’t put her in the rapper category. I don’t think she’s a rapper, but she makes dope records. I think she’s dope.”

It wasn’t too long before the fans of Doja Cat took to Twitter to refute the claims that she wasn’t a real rapper and tell Remy Ma to have several seats.

Remy Ma saying Doja Cat isn’t a rapper is laughable. She just reached mainstream heights that Remy as a rapper cannot reach. And that’s not a drag, it’s honest. Doja is a rapper.

In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Doja Cat said she always considered herself hip-hop at heart, and all of her faithful fans know that.
“I’ve rapped since the beginning, and I really couldn’t even sing that well, to begin with—I got a lot better,” Doja Cat said. “I use my voice as a tool to create these worlds, and it’s fine if people think that I can’t rap.”
Doja seemingly took a shot at the Bronx rapper by stating that only those who are respected in hip-hop should be rating it.
“The only person who should be rating Hip-Hop is an OG,” Doja Cat said. “or somebody who is respected in Hip-Hop.”
She also revealed that her next album would be predominately rap.
