The first trailer for The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s latest film, has been released by Universal Pictures.

The film is based on Homer’s epic poem of the same name. Universal still hasn’t released an extensive description for the film yet, still only describing it as a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology” that “brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time.”

The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong’o, with Zendaya and Charlize Theron.

Nolan is the writer and director, and produces with his Synopy partner, Emma Thomas

As we previously reported, written by the ancient Grecian writer Homer, The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the leader of a crew of soldiers who are trying to get home after the Trojan War. Along the way, Odysseus and his crew fall prey to mythological creatures like sirens and various tests of strength and endurance.

What does ‘The Odyssey’ trailer show?

The trailer doesn’t showcase an extreme amount of things, but we do get a tease of Damon’s journey as Odysseus and also showcases come glimpses of Tom Holland as Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope. The other major characters do not appear.

When will ‘The Odyssey’ be released?

The film hits theaters on July 17, 2026. Watch the trailer below:
