Tiffany Boone is speaking out about her experience on Showtime series The Chi. The actress left the show after reportedly making misconduct allegations against her co-star at the time Jason Mitchell. After another misconduct allegation was made public against Mitchell on a Netflix show he had been a part of, Showtime confirmed he would not be returning for the third season of The Chi.
After opening up on Instagram about leaving her role, Boone sat down with Shadow And Act at a recent press event for her new Amazon Prime show Hunters, and talked about her Instagram post and how her experiences on The Chi have impacted how she chooses future roles.
Watch the video below:
“It absolutely did affect how I’ve chosen roles afterward,” she shared.“I came straight onto Hunters pretty soon after that, and I had a conversation with David [Weil] and Nikki [Toscano], our showrunners, at the beginning like, ‘Hey, I’m kind of getting out of something.’ It’s like when you get out of a bad relationship and you’re like ‘I don’t know if I want another boyfriend right now, maybe I want to be single.’ And they were so great, so amazing, so welcoming. They didn’t know anything, but they just knew that I was looking for a safe place, and they provided that for me. And that’s what I keep looking for… to continue to work with people, creators and leaders that really believe in being behind the team and making sure everyone is safe and protected on the set. Period.”
Aside from Hunters, she’s also booked a role in Little Fires Everywhere with Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon and will also star in an upcoming sci-fi film for Netflix directed by and also starring George Clooney.
The first five episodes of Hunters, which also star Al Pacino, Logan Lerman and Jerrika Hinton, are available now.
