Memphis rapper GloRilla is receiving negative feedback regarding her recent tweet making light of Tina Turner‘s domestic abuse on the legend’s birthday.

“Back ina day I always felt sorry for Anna Mae but now I’ll slap ts outta a nigga he don’t eat da cake,” GloRilla tweeted.

Usually, Glo is on the timeline for being that girl, but fans questioned her choice of words this time.

GloRilla is not the first artist to jokingly refer to the abuse displayed in Tina Turner’s 1993 biopic, What’s Love Got to Do With It? JAY-Z has a line on his song with Beyoncé, “Drunk in Love.”

“I’m Ike Turner Turner, you know I don’t play, now eat the cake, Anna-Mae, eat the cake, Anna-Mae” HOV rapped on the hit record.

Suppose you’re still not familiar with the cake reference. It’s from the scene in the biopic where an envious Ike Turner smashes cake Tina’s face and slaps a backup singer for stepping in to defend her. “Eat the cake, Anna-Mae,” comes from a roadie wearily suggesting Tina do so.

GloRilla’s tweet rubbed many wrong leading to users calling her out for insensitive remarks.

“Not the domestic violence bar,” one tweeted.

“I know you ain’t tweet this on her birthday,” another questioned with a confused Drewski meme.

“Meanwhile everybody that’s fake mad at this tweet be jammin’ about Anna Mae eating cake when Drunk In Love comes on tho…,” another fan tweeted defending GloRilla.

“Making fun of Tina Turner’s abuse is just nasty,” another scolded.

One user even offered the F.N.F artist publicity help after seeing GloRilla left the tweet up despite the lack of support from her fans and Twitter users.

“I don’t have any experience in Public Relations, but considering how this post has been up for hours on Tina Turner’s birthday, then I would make for the perfect candidate for your team. I’ll be sending over my resume to your email in your bio,” they tweeted.

GloRilla has yet to respond to the tweets or the situation. How do you feel about artists using situations like these in their work?
