Rapper/actor Eve will be joining Shonda RhimesKeenen Ivory WayansKevin Hart, Kenya Barris and Sheldon Candis over at ABC (each of them either already has a show – or shows – on the network’s lineup, or has a show – or shows – in development at the network).

ABC has partnered up with Eve on what is said to be a semi-autobiographical comedy, currently untitled, which would see Eve both executive produce and star.

Aaron Kaplan’s Kaplan Entertainment will produce, with a likely 2015 season debut for the potential series, which will focus on interracial relationships (Eve is is engaged to British fashion designer Maximillion Cooper in real life, who is white; so I suppose that relationship will be fodder for the TV series, since it’s “semi-autobiographical.”

No stranger to the big and small screen, Eve’s resume includes appearances in both Barbershop movies, xXx, and The Cookout, as well as starred in an eponymous TV series for 3 season on UPN.

ABC is certainly stacking up projects from black content creators. Call it the Shonda Rhimes effect (check out my piece on what seems like renewed network interest in attracting black audiences HERE).

Let’s see how many of these actually make it to series.
