Y’all, the sudden death of Prince really messed me up. I think we have it in our minds that our favorite icons will be with us a lot longer and never even think of something going completely wrong. These unexpected tragedies are all the more reason to see your favorite artists in concert whenever you can.

Remember when Michael Jackson died? It felt as though I had lost a family member and a piece of my childhood. I think I was angrier with myself for not ever seeing him in concert, although I was saving all my little coins for the “This Is It” tour. Too bad it never happened.

I was able to see Prince in concert just this past summer in Baltimore, and it goes down as one of my favorite concert experiences to date. What a gifted artist! I am so thankful that I didn’t wait until “the next time” he was in the area on tour and immediately jumped on those tickets. That would have been a huge regret. It was simply amazing.

I share all of this to say that our legends are leaving this earth, many in an untimely manner.

It’s so important to enjoy life and support their artistry in concert while you can. Enjoy their voices and dance moves live! Feel the energy of the crowd that feels the exact same love that you do. I know tickets are expensive for many big names, but you never know what might come of being in those nosebleed seats. For instance, at the Baltimore concert, Prince moved those people up to VIP!

So although treating yourself to a weekend away is great and indulging in that guilty-pleasure material gift is exciting at times, don’t forget to treat yourself to one of the best gifts of all — tickets to see your favorite musicians live.

What was the last concert you attended? Who do you wish to see next? Sound off in the comments!
