Family Matters star Darius McCrary is being held in a San Diego jail after he was arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border on Sunday for an out-of-state felony warrant. According to TMZ, McCrary’s reps said he had a warrant in Michigan for missing a court appearance after failing to pay child support. McCrary, who finalized his divorce with Tammy Brawner in 2019, was ordered to pay $1,366 per month in child support. However, he has already been arrested twice for failing to pay the amount he owes, per TMZ.
What did the court decide when Darius McCrary divorced Tammy Brawner?
Brawner was given full custody of the couple’s daughter Zoey, who was 3 years old at the time of the divorce, according to People. The court also required McCrary to complete alcohol and drug abuse classes and batterers’ intervention classes, while allowing him to get monitored visitation with his daughter on Sundays.
What did Tammy Brawner say in the allegations she raised against Darius McCrary in 2018?
Court documents obtained by People in 2018 revealed that Brawner raised allegations against her ex-husband, saying he “partially dislocated” their daughter’s arm as he grabbed her carelessly while taking her to the bathroom. McCrary, however, denied the allegations, saying he “grabbed one hand to lift her up and immediately grabbed the other.”
The documents stated that Zoey was diagnosed with Nursemaid’s elbow. The injury, which is common among children, happens when the bones partially dislocate as a child’s elbow is pulled.
Brawner also said that McCrary went on the radio and told the public that his wife has been telling their daughter to lie and say that “dada hurt her.” Additionally, Brawner said McCrary has been missing the co-parenting classes they were ordered to take.
“I cannot co-parent by myself,” she stated in the documents, per People. “I have gone above and beyond to parent with Mr. McCrary but he appears to be too bitter and too much of a tyrant to parent with me.”
McCrary played Eddie Winslow on the hit ’90s sitcom Family Matters, starring alongside Reginald VelJohnson, Jo Marie Payton and Jaleel White.
