The parents of Joycelyn Savage have reportedly agreed to scale back their efforts to keep an eye on their daughter at the request of federal investigators.
Timothy and Jonjelyn Savage have accused R. Kelly of brainwashing their daughter into joining a sex cult centered on the singer, as Blavity reported. The Savages planned on having Chicago police conduct a welfare check on their daughter and other members of Kelly's entourage but have been asked not to do so by federal investigators, according to TMZ.
The tabloid reports investigators believe such a check could harm their investigation into the allegations of sexual misconduct Kelly faces.
Welfare checks typically occur when a concerned person requests the police check on the mental, physical and emotional safety of a person believed to be in some distress. As part of the inspection, officers are legally required to visit the person of interest's home, conduct an interview and report on their findings.

These checks have been used in the past by parents worried about children living with R. Kelly and were detailed in the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly.
Capital Xtra reports the last welfare check was conducted in January, just weeks before Kelly was indicted on 10 counts of sexual abuse. Joycelyn Savage and fellow Kelly companion Azriel Clary were seen in court supporting the alleged abuser following that indictment.
Joycelyn's parents are reportedly cooperating with the federal investigation. They claim to have significant information on crucial witnesses in the case as well as "physical evidence" they say will help prove the case against Kelly.
In addition to the Illinois indictment Kelly faces, the artist is reportedly being investigated by two different U.S. Attorney's Offices: one in the Eastern District of New York and another in the Southern District of New York. Both investigations are believed to center on sex trafficking.
