Kindergarten student Kemiyah Edwards is heading home after spending weeks in VCU Medical Center's intensive care unit.
According to local news outlet WTVR, Kemiyah was hit in the head by a stray bullet on April 4, while playing inside of her grandmother's home. Kemiyah's grandmother put her in the car and called an ambulance before rushing her to the hospital herself.
Kemiyah spent weeks in and out of surgery and still may need more surgeries before she fully recovers. But video of her jumping and walking around made it on to local news and brought smiles to many of the people who had been following the story.
