Lousiana State University’s Flau’jae Johnson secured a verse from rap legend Lil Wayne. During a recent interview, the Southeastern Conference freshman of the year and emerging rapper revealed her upcoming project is in the works and has a feature from the Young Money CEO.
“I want to drop the feature on my album. He’s already sent it in; it’s fire,” Johnson told the Atlanta Black Star. “It’s giving heavy spitta. You know Lil Wayne is one of the GOATs, so he blessed the track.”
The collaboration between the two artists was just an idea after LSU won the 2023 NCAA Division I women’s basketball tournament. While on press runs, the Roc Nation artist told outlets she still planned to pursue a music career. She also listed some notable names she would ideally love to work with, one being Weezy.
On ESPN’s The Bird & Taurasi Show, Weezy told ESPN during the women’s NCAA tournament that he wanted to connect with Johnson.
“Imagine Winning A National Championship Your FRESHMAN Year! Then, Getting A Lil Wayne Feature Right After ??! What is life,” Johnson tweeted about Wayne’s ESPN convo.
Johnson and Wayne finally met in person after the “A Milli” artist’s surprise performance at the Essence Festival on July 6. Backstage, the two had a friendly exchange, including taking pictures with each other and posting them online.
Johnson must have left a lasting impression on Lil Wayne because the song is completed, and we can’t wait to hear it!
