About a week ago, Omarosa's tenure at the White House abruptly ended.

While many, such as Robin Roberts and Angela Rye, weren't sad to see her go, Omarosa's departure did highlight the fact that the White House is currently mostly male and mostly white.

This week, perhaps in effort to change that, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly met with several prominent black Republicans, the Washington Post reports.

According to the Washington Times, the group consisted of about 30 black GOP leaders, including Senator Tim Scott (S.C.) and Herman Cain, who you may remember from his failed bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. 

At the meeting, Kelly reportedly asked the assembled black Republicans for resumes and informed them, “we are looking for talented young men and women” to join the White House team.

Kelly apparently also stressed “how rewarding it is” to serve in the Trump administration, and that he and the president only wanted "very good people.”

After news broke of the meeting, Kelly released a statement that made it clear that he wasn't starting a diversity initiative or hewing heavily to affirmative action in hiring. 

“I said talented young men and women of any age that would be willing to come and serve the country for some period of time,” Mr. Kelly told Daily Mail. “I went over and met with them, just for a few minutes, and I said we are looking for talented young men and women. I didn’t say African Americans, I didn’t say Hispanics.”
