For the first time in history, Miss America, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA are all beautiful, Black women.
The excellence!
Miss New York's Nia Franklin was the first to set up the trifecta, winning Miss America 2019 in September 2018. Per an earlier Blavity report, the 23-year-old is a North Carolina native who earned a master's degree in music composition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. After graduation, Long moved to New York City after being accepted into the Kenan Fellow program at Lincoln Center Education in Manhattan.

Kaliegh Garris aka Miss Connecticut was crowned Miss Teen USA on Sunday and rocked her natural coils on the national stage. The 18-year-old New Haven native is the founder of We Are People 1st, an organization she created to honor her older sister who has disabilities. Garris will pursue a nursing degree at Southern Connecticut State University in hopes of becoming a trauma nurse.
Lastly, there's Miss North Carolina's Cheslie Kryst, who beat competitors to take home the title of Miss USA on Thursday, completing the queenly trinity. Kryst, 27, received both an MBA and law degree from Wake Forest University, and she isn't the first in her family to achieve pageant fame. When she was 10, Kryst watched her mother become Miss North Carolina 2002. She credits that experience as a catalyst for her desires to pursue pageantry herself.
"It was a time in my life when I didn't know who I was and wasn't confident in myself," she confessed. "I was that little weird kid who had a unibrow and didn't have any friends. My hair was always pulled back. I thought I want to be just like her."
There was nothing but love for all three ladies on Twitter.
