Prime Video has a summer reality series lineup you don’t want to miss. From the producers of Southern Charm on Bravo, get to know the cast of Forever Summer: Hamptons. The series is described as a coming-of-age docusoap. With the beachy backdrop of the Hamptons, a group of college kids from different backgrounds descend upon the town for the summer. The mix of locals versus city kids definitely causes some friction.
By day, they’re working at a seaside restaurant. By night, they are partying, testing friendships, and exploring love. Ahead of the show’s July 15 release date, Shadow and Act Unscripted spoke to some of the cast members about what to expect.
For Habtamu “Habs” Coulter who was born in Ethiopia and adopted and raised in The Hamptons, his experience has been unique. As one who is a local, he admits he is annoyed by how the town is treated by those who expat from the city for the summer.
“Hamptons is a vacation spot, it’s like anywhere else, but it is small,” he told us. “There’s beaches, there’s small towns, small roads. There’s a lot of traffic in the summer. So all the tourists come and they destroy it. But they use what they want. They do what they want. They think they’re entitled, and privileged to whatever they want. So I think of it as a like huge vacation spot that is too small for the population.”
There’s also the very real complexity of the haves versus the have-nots in the quaint town
“I would definitely say that that’s it’s a real thing and there are really not very nice people out there, just as I like to categorize it,” Ilan, who is the city kid of the bunch tell us. “And I’ve been saying this all day, there are good people and there are bad people. I just want to try to be one of the good ones. You know, I think if you’re in the Hamptons and you’re living that life in the summer, you are privileged in some capacity. But a lot of people are so much more privileged than others.
Avery and Emelye wants to show the real Hamptons from a locals perspective
“It’s really the best, aside from the glitz and glam, I think the show did such a great job too of showing the behind the scenes of that and the other side that the locals live. Because that’s a very different life. It’s a lot chiller,” Avery told us.
Emelye added, “Hamptons is just a special place. Like, if you haven’t been there, you have to go there.”
