nullJust a few days ago, I reported the item that was announced on several sources that Sean "Diddy" Combs was mulling over an offer to become a judge, joining Mariah Carey on the new season of American Idol.

Now it seems that might have been a "trial balloon" released by Combs' people to see if the producers of Idol would bite. That's because, according to the New York Daily News and other souces, rapper/singer/producer and lately fashion designer, Pharrell Williams, is almost certainly to be a new judge on Idol when production on the show starts in a few weeks.

According to reports, Williams had been negotiating with Idol producers for several weeks, and has been telling people with his record label, Star Trak Entertainment,  that he will be present as a judge when the nationwide auditions search for new talent for the next season of Idol starts at the end of the month.

Williams said that it was his long associations with both Carey and Randy Jackson that were the main factors to join the show.

But whether it's Williams or Diddy, the question is, will you be watching or is Idol long past its freshness date?
