Rapper Future announced on Twitter on Thursday that he would not be performing in Virginia after the violent white supremacy rallies that ended in the death of three people last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia. The "Mask Off" artist was scheduled to perform at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville on Friday, Aug. 18. The trap star explained to his fans that he wouldn't be performing out of respect for those who died and were injured during the rally but would be returning to Virginia eventually.
Out of respect for the tragic events I felt it wasn't rite to perform at this time..please understand my heart mean well VA #FutureHendrix

While some fans understood his position, others felt they were being punished for the actions of hateful neo-Nazis and white supremacists.
Don't you realize we need this concert more than ever right now. BIG let down ????

Bro you're literally rewarding the Nazis for causing riots. They wouldn't want you to come and now you're not, so you let them win

You're punishing people who have nothing to do with all that bullshit…

Future joins a number of performers who have spoken out about the tragic events of the Charlottesville white supremacy rallies, including Zendaya, Pharrell Williams and John Legend. But canceling the show in Virginia was definitely a huge risk.
What do you think about Future's decision to cancel his show?
