With the addition of Garcelle BeauvaisSpider-Man: Homecoming secures its lead even further as the Marvel Cinematic film with the most people of color in it – ever. As the news has poured in, the hype has gotten bigger and bigger. The Marvel Spider-Man fans that are black and PoC could not be more excited (until you say Black Panther).

It’s really amazing to see how committed Marvel is to a multicultural ensemble of actors in Spider-Man. The diverse, stacked cast already includes of Zendaya, Donald GloverAbraham AttahHannibal Buress, Tiffany Espensen, Isabella Amara and Tony Revolori, just to name a few.

The craziest part of all of this is that we still don’t know who almost anyone is playing. Just like with the casting announcements before her, Garcelle Beauvais’ name comes without even a hint of who it is she may play in the movie, although we have a strong feeling that she may be the mother of Michelle, Zendaya’s character.

But we’re just happy another one of our faves is in the mix.

It will be so interesting to see how all of these amazing actors and actresses are used in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Until then, it’s lit that every day we wake up another one of our own is heading down to Atlanta to pick up that Marvel/Sony check. Not to mention they are in a film about arguably the biggest childhood superhero the 90s had to offer. Well played Marvel, and many congratulations to Garcelle Beauvais.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.

P.S. – Garcelle if you read this and want to help get a young black fanboy on set, I would really appreciate it.
