NBC has teamed up with Gary Anthony Williams (Weeds) and Al Roker to develop a new comedy series for the network titled The Fosters.
It'll star Williams (who'll also co-write), with Roker (via his Al Roker Entertainment) executive producing, and will cenger on a father (Williams) of several foster children.
And in case you're wondering, Roker's connection to the project is inspired by his own personal experience with foster children.
A title change might have to happen to avoid any confusion with ABC Family's upcoming new dramedy pilot also calles The Fosters, which centers on a lesbian couple who are parents to a house full of kids (some of them also foster children).
Gary Anthony Williams is apparently a busy fellow, with a handful of projects on his upcoming slate, sold to the likes of Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network. He also currently can be seen on Fox’s Raising Hope, and TV Land’s Soul Man in recurring roles, and will be featured in Shawn Levy’s The Internship.
