Gloria Gaynor has the key to surviving the coronavirus.
Her Grammy award-winning hit, “I Will Survive” has been the anthem to many during heart-wrenching breakups, but the lyrics have taken a different meaning in recent days since the outbreak of COVID-19.
While you can remind yourself that “I've got all my life to live and I've got all my love to give and I'll survive” to get you through the pandemic, you can also sing the chorus while taking preventative measures.
The queen of disco created a TikTok video encouraging everyone to wash their hands properly, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said is one way to lower your risk of contracting the virus.
The 70-year-old is seen lathering up her hands with soap and water and scrubbing, just as the CDC guidelines state. Gaynor captioned the video, “It only takes 20 seconds to 'SURVIVE.'”
While it is recommended to sing the “Happy Birthday” song twice, the chorus to the 1978 hit is a great alternative.
Gaynor’s TikTok has thousands of views and has everyone thanking her for a little relief during stressful times.

The “Never Can Say Goodbye” singer even inspired others to create their own #IWillSurviveChallenge, and fans are recording themselves washing their hands to the Billboard chart-topping hit, which was released 41 years ago.
The outbreak, which the World Health Organization recently declared a pandemic, is forcing many public events to be canceled as authorities are trying to minimize the spread. The NBA has suspended all operations for at least 30 days after Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19, as Blavity previously reported. Concerts and music festivals, such as Ultra Music Festival and South By South West, are being canceled or postponed. Many colleges and universities are also transitioning to online courses.
Despite authorities around the world cautioning people about the severity of the issue, Twitter users have, of course, been making light of it.
