FX and BBC have announced the cast for their upcoming adaption of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations. The series is from Steven Knight.
The classic coming-of-age story of an orphan nicknamed Pip will star Academy Award and Emmy Winner Olivia Coleman who will lead the cast.
1. The stellar cast will feature:
Colman (The Lost Daughter, The Crown) in the lead role of “Miss Havisham” and Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk) as “Pip” alongside Ashley Thomas (Them, Top Boy) as Jaggers, Johnny Harris (London to Brighton) as Magwitch, Shalom Brune-Franklin (Line of Duty, The Tourist) as Estella, Hayley Squires (Disappointment Blvd, True Things) as Sara, Owen McDonnell (Killing Eve) as Joe, Trystan Gravelle (Lord of the Rings, Quiz) as Compeyson, and Matt Berry (What We Do In the Shadows) as Mr. Pumblechuck.
Knight will write and executive produce Great Expectations along with Award-winning actor Tom Hardy, Academy award-nominated director Ridley Scott, Dean Baker, David W. Zucker, Kate Crowe, and Mona Qureshi for the BBC. Great Expectations will be produced by FX Productions in partnership with the BBC Lucy Forbes (The End of the F***ing World, In My Skin) will serve as lead director for the series.
Steven Knight previously adapted another one of Charles Dickens’s works with the hit limited series A Christmas Carol.
Great Expectations is presumably in production with a release date pending.
