Schlitz recently made history by becoming the youngest Black American to graduate from law school at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law.
She was accepted into the program when she was only 16 years old and was also accepted into eight other law schools.
Proud to #PonyUP tonight & make #HERstory. Yes this happened earlier today at @SMULawSchool . I am now 19 with a JD. #Thankful for my family & village for their support for my education journey. #19WithAJD #HERstoryMaker #LawSchoolLife pic.twitter.com/5KOTCCnAUv

Now, mere days after graduating from the Dallas-area institution, Schlitz has revealed what’s next for her. During her recent appearance on Tamron Hall’s eponymous talk show, Tamron Hall, Schlitz shared that she has accepted a teaching position at E.A. Young Academy, a private K-12 institution in North Richland Hills, Texas.
“I’m going to be teaching. I feel so called to teaching,” Schlitz told Hall. “I just really want to give back and inspire, so I’ll be teaching AP Government and Politics at E.A. Young.”
Catch me Thursday, May 19 on the @TamronHallShow. Proud to #PonyUp & #BoldlyGo share my education journey & story to help inspire others to make their own path. #19andGotMyJD #LawSchool #BlackExcellence #BlackGirlsRock #BlackGirlMagic pic.twitter.com/cOU0FfVZc1

Upon revealing the news, Hall encouraged Schlitz, who was supported by her parents during the interview, to “stop and absorb and embrace” her accomplishments.
To help facilitate this reflection, Hall proceeded to gift the family a 5-night vacation to Grenada — a Caribbean Island located northwest of Trinidad and Tobago.
