Local law enforcement in Halifax County, Virginia decided to give out ice cream cones instead of tickets to drivers they stopped on the road. Officer Brian Warner wanted to do something sweet for the community he works in, and told WSET how much fun he had with the woman in the video.

“Her reaction was absolutely the best,” explained Warner to WSET. “It was genuine, and she had us smiling and laughing for a good hour afterwards, and I’ve probably watched the video myself 50 times just laughing… and that’s one of the great things with police work you get to meet people like that on a daily basis, and it makes the job worth it.”

“I love this community,” said Sergeant Stuart Come. “I love our citizens and we appreciate the support that they give us on a daily basis…not just for times like this, but for everyday.”

However, some people are not amused.

Police have been criticized for their means of easing tensions with the black community. It is crucial to think about how this actions affect our community, especially considering recent run-ins between black men and police.
