HBO is moving forward with a pilot order of the half-hour comedy from Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin – although in what Deadline calls a redeveloped/retooled script, although no word on what exactly that includes.
The currently untitled project will star both gentlemen as two young reporters, trying to make it big in Atlanta.
The potentially new HBO series will be executive produced by Lorne Michaels, along with Riddle and Salahuddin, with Dave Flebotte serving as showrunner.
I’m glad that HBO will be its home. I hope it means that they’ll be free to push the envelope a bit, and give us something wholly original. Let’s hope that the so-called “retooled” script goes beyond a pilot, and is eventually ordered to series.
