Welp, looks like the “drug-heavy rap music is a bad influence on kids” torch mob is going to have to move away from the scapegoat that is rap and direct their fiery energy to the real source: country music. Addition rates are rising and of course, music is touted as one of society’s heaviest influences. 

According to a study conducted by Addictions.com that used data from Songmeanings, when it comes to which musical genre mentions drugs the most, country music was the “winner” by far. After country in the number one spot came jazz, pop, electronic and then rock.

And the infamous scapegoat, hip-hop? It came dead last of the eight genres analyzed in the study. 

In fact, the study found that general drug talk in music has decreased, spiking in the 2000s and dropping every year since.

Will the “music glorifies drugs” police take their fight to country music now that their target isn’t something embraced by the black community? Doubt it, but we shall see …
