Former talk show host and actress Holly Robinson Peete took to Twitter on Friday to criticize reality TV star Sharon Osbourne, who has been in hot water all week for her defense of racist criticism directed toward Meghan Markle

Osbourne, a longtime friend of Piers Morgan, came to his defense, denying that he was racist and telling the public he was simply sharing his opinion about Markle after a much-talked-about interview with her husband Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey.

Osbourne's co-hosts on The Talk brought up the topic and respectfully questioned her about her stance on Morgan.

Osbourne lashed out at her Black co-host Sheryl Underwood and claimed others were calling her a racist. The spat forced Osbourne to release an apology on Friday, but some were not impressed, as Blavity previously reported

Among those disinterested in the apology was Peete, who said that during her time with Osbourne hosting The Talk, she called her "ghetto" and implied that Osbourne was the reason she was fired.

"I’m old enough to remember when Sharon complained that I was too “ghetto” for #theTalk…then I was gone," Peete wrote.

"I bring this up now bc I was mortified watching the disrespectful condescending tone she took w/her co host who remained calm & respectful because…she HAD to," Peete added.

Peete was responding to another Twitter user who noted that the actress had called out Osbourne in the past but was ignored.

No one listened when Holly Robinson Peete called out Sharon Osbourne’s thinly veiled racism. And now it’s right here on Twitter for all to see. Believe Black women.

Peete initially responded to the original tweet noting that it was not okay for someone to defend racists.

Peete was fired from the show in 2011 and later spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about what happened.

"Usually when you get fired, your boss brings you in, sits you down and tells you why they can't keep you. They say we have to downsize or you’re not doing this, you’re not doing that. I was never given that opportunity," she said.

"Still to this day, I don't know. I speculate in my mind, but in trying to move forward all I can say is, 'Hey, is it because of my performance?' I don't think so," she added.

But one year later, actress Leah Remini wrote in a now-deleted tweet that she and Peete were fired because Osbourne said they were "ghetto."

“Sharon thought me and Holly were ‘Ghetto’, (her words) we were not funny, awkward and didn’t know ourselves,” Remini wrote on Twitter at the time, according to Variety.

“Sharon said she asked [for] us to be fired,” Remini wrote in response to another tweet.
