If there’s one thing about Monique “I have four homes” Samuels, she’s that girl. The it-girl, even! When Mrs. Samuels came bustling across our television screens in 2017 on the second season of The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP), she made a splash. Samuels’ debut was riddled with wealth and fabulousness but was met with sheer envy from her castmates. Despite being one of the few housewives to have a husband and storyline, the mother of three departed after four seasons.
While we may no longer see her on the Bravo franchise, she’s leading the ensemble on OWN’s Love & Marriage: D.C. alongside other DMV-based couples. This hugely successful move only confirms what we already know and have said: Monique is that girl. Check out our list of eight times Monique proved she is a star in her own right, regardless of what anyone who may be green with envy would argue.
1. Her four homes
Monique clearly knows how to make an entrance given her show’s entrance that left her on-screen rivals upset for four seasons. When asked if she doesn’t have a home by castmate Gizelle Bryant, Monique confidently stated that she actually has four. The ensuing looks on her castmates’ faces tell it all.
2. Kicking Gizelle Bryant out of her home
Like many of us, Monique refuses to tolerate disrespect in her home. When catching wind of Gizelle’s shady comments while acting as a guest, Monique swiftly let her know that she could leave. Kudos to Monique for standing up for herself.
3. Her vulnerability
Sometimes reality television can get a negative connotation for arguments and fighting, but there are some moments that are just the opposite. When Monique opened up about some of her marital issues, it opened up a new layer to the star that fans hadn’t previously seen.
4. Her music career
Did you know that Monique can spit some serious bars? Her music video for her single “Drag Queens” proved that. We love the duality of it all.
5. Her podcast
If you want to hear more from this queen, fear no more! Monique’s podcast, Not For Lazy Moms, sees her talking about a myriad of topics all related to motherhood. It’s refreshing to see her open up about her journey to motherhood as well.
6. Her line of essential oils
Entrepreneurship looks good on Monique! Mrs. Samuels has a line of essential oils designed to aid a variety of issues that one may face. We love a Black woman-owned business and can’t wait to support it.
7. Her binder
Listen, if you haven’t learned by now that bullies never prosper, take a lesson from Monique and her binder. The binder in question accompanied Monique to the season five reunion of RHOP and caused major damage. With damaging rumors of her marriage swirling around and being isolated by the majority of the cast, Monique came to defend her honor. This will likely be one of the greatest moments of the franchise and has already changed the game on what receipts mean.
8. Black love
Monique and her husband, Chris Samuels, exhibit one of the most beautiful displays of Black love. So much so that they’re headlining their own reality television show, Love & Marriage: D.C. Alongside other powerful Black couples in the DMV area, we’re sure to see more of that in the new series.
From binders to being clear about owning four homes, Monique is reality television gold. We cannot wait to see her shine brightly on her new series and to witness the growth that she’s sure to have.
