An Ohio courtroom displayed a flagrant abuse of power when a judge ordered deputies to tape a defendant's mouth shut. Franklyn Williams was awaiting his sentence for three alleged armed robberies and had a few words he wanted to share with the judge first reports Fox 8.

A video clip from the trial, which took place on Tuesday, July 31, showed the 32-year-old attempting to plead his case to Judge John Russo, before being granted permission to do so.

Angrily, the judge responded, "Mr. Williams, I'm the judge in the matter. Shut your mouth, and I will tell you when you can talk. You got it?"

The disrespect. The humiliation. The indecency.

“You’re trying to take my life away, judge, and you’re not letting me tell you what’s going on,” Williams blurted out.

“If we have to, I will gag you in one second,” Russo warned.

The Cuyahoga County judge, fed up, ordered deputies to tape the defendant's mouth shut. Video footage showed six deputies on hand for the task.

Judge Russo issued another warning: “I want to make it real clear, if you spit on, attempt to bite, or injure any of my deputies, we’re going to have a bad day.“

The New York Post reports Williams was sentenced to 24 years in prison
