Democrats are trying to tap award-winning "Get Up 10" rapper Cardi B to speak to voters in Iowa.
After emerging as a voice for the people during the government shutdown, the Bronx native has attracted the attention of well-known Democrats.
The Des Moines Register reports the "Bodak Yellow" rapper will be in the state in May, performing at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Local Democrats want her to talk shop during her visit.
Popular Democratic figures, including Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), have previously made appearances in the state. In a Tuesday tweet from Polk County Democrats, the group is willing to roll out the red carpet for the Invasion of Privacy artist.
As the center of the IA Caucuses, we have been honored to host @TeamPelosi, @CecileRichards, @KamalaHarris, @SenGillibrand, @PramilaJayapal, @Grace4NY, and many powerful women leaders.
It only makes sense to invite @iamcardib to a reception of her choice while she’s here in May.

"We are definitely serious about this," Sean Bagniewski, the Polk County Democrats chair, said.
Cardi B is the right choice to encourage young voters to get involved in politics.
The 26-year-old has branded herself as more than a rapper. Sparring with conservative spitfires like Tomi Lahren and Stephanie Hamill, fighting off angry Trump supporters and maintaining her composure has elevated her in the eyes of the Democrats.
A petition promoted by comedian Stephen Colbert called for Cardi to give the Democratic response to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address. However, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has been pegged to take it to the Donald.
The latest news is just one of many other opportunities on the horizon for the "Be Careful" artist. Blavity previously reported she would soon have a Las Vegas residency.
