En Vogue may still be together, but the group is no longer gonna get Rhona Bennett’s lovin’…at least not right now.

The singer announced the end of her two-decade run with the R&B group in a statement shared on Instagram on Thursday. The announcement comes after Bennett was noticeably absent for En Vogue’s performance at the 40th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Nov. 8, where they shared the stage with Salt-N-Pepa, who were inducted into the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class

Bennett said she didn’t know about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performance

Bennett, who joined En Vogue in 2003, began her announcement by introducing her “new season.”

“There comes a time in every artist’s journey when the path changes — sometimes without full clarity, but always with purpose,” she wrote.

The singer shared that she’s spent years developing her voice, “not just musically, but personally and spiritually,” and ultimately “learned that honoring my values, creative expression, and truth must come before anything else.”

The 49-year-old then shed some light on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, revealing she was uninformed of En Vogue’s performance.

“I’m normally pretty private, but many of you reached out to ask why I wasn’t at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performance,” she mentioned. “I was approved, during the summer, to facilitate my own event happening concurrently on November 8th, however I was not informed about the Hall of Fame performance and discovered it at the same time as the public. It could’ve been nice to attend had I been given the opportunity to adjust my schedule.”

Later, Bennett expressed her gratitude for her time with En Vogue and “the incredible work we’ve shared across the globe.”

She concluded her statement by teasing her new Christmas single, “It’s Christmas Time (For You and I).”

En Vogue released a statement confirming Bennett’s departure

En Vogue shared a statement on social media on Tuesday, in which the group explained that they held off on announcing Bennett’s departure “out of due respect” for Salt-N-Pepa.

“We are proud of En Vogue’s legacy, and for over 35 years have been committed to maintaining an open-door culture for members to pursue their individual aspirations while staying ‘true’ to our brand. As a group, we have the utmost respect for Rhona’s talents and have consistently supported her personal endeavors throughout the past 22 years,” the now trio wrote.

The “Don’t Let Go” group also shared what’s next for En Vogue.

“Looking ahead to 2026, with founding member Maxine Jones, who returned earlier this year we are extremely blessed to celebrate two major milestones: the 30th anniversary of the EV3 debut and the 25th anniversary of the Masterpiece Theatre album,” they wrote. “Thanks to our fans for your support!”

Before joining the group with founding members Cindy Herron and Terry Ellis, Bennett released her debut self-titled album in 2001 with Darkchild Records/Epic Records. As a trio, En Vogue dropped the group’s sixth album, Soul Flower, in 2004.

Bennett left the group temporarily in 2008. En Vogue original members Dawn Robinson and Maxine Jones joined Herron and Ellis for several 20th anniversary shows. The founding four performed together until 2009.

After the reunion performances, Robinson and Jones left the group, and Bennett returned to En Vogue, Madame Noire reported. She’d been with the group ever since.
