Issa Rae appears to troll fans after she was called out for Amanda Seales' character on Insecure wearing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., insignia during the season premiere.
In the episode, Tiffany, played by Seales, wore a sweater with the organization's Greek letters on it.
Rae took to Twitter on Tuesday and shared a clip from her YouTube series Awkward Black Girl as a subtle response. In the short video, a woman appears to join in on a group of sorority sisters practicing a step.
"Ain't s**t changed!" she captioned the video.
Fans picked up on the shade toward members of the sorority who were upset by the usage of the sorority's incorporated trademark.
But some fans thought her tweet might incite some anger.
A viewer called out Rae on Twitter after the episode aired, saying "do not do that again" and that it was "wildly disrespectful," People reports.
After being first alerted by the fan, Rae jokingly responded and said she would have HBO "delete one of the upcoming episodes."
The organization's website states, "The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority badge, the coat of arms (Sorority crest), the name Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (Inc.), the name Ivy Leaf, the sound Skee-Wee and the term Fashionetta are federally registered trademarks with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office."
"The badge and coat of arms must not be reproduced or used under any conditions without the written permission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated," the statement continues. "Reproduction without permission is a legal infringement, and the violator is subject to prosecution. All federally registered trademarks should be used with the federal registration symbol."
While it's unclear if the sorority is pursuing any legal action, the organization said they were made aware of the "unauthorized" use and said it was "taking steps to protect" the brand, Essence reports.
