Football season is upon us once again which means ample amount of time to think about the Superbowl. Which teams will be there? What will the commercials be like? And who will perform the halftime show?
According to informed sources over at Hits Daily Double, discussions of Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake headlining Superbowl LII (52) in 2018 are underway. The two appeared together on Timberlake's “Suit and Tie” as well as Jay-Z's “Holy Grail” back in 2013. They also joined forces on the "Legends of Summer Tour" the summer of that same year. After a couple smash hits and a top grossing tour, it's safe to say that the two have great chemistry and stage presence together.
If Jay has learned anything from his wife, I'm sure he'll kill the Superbowl stage the way that she has in recent years. This wouldn't be Timberlake's first rodeo, seeing as he performed at Superbowl XXXVIII (38) with Janet Jackson which resulted in the infamous nip slip. Timberlake tore away at her costume — intentional or not was never determined — leaving her exposed. The incident was treated as a catastrophic milestone, to say the least.
And while we'd love to see Hov and JT take the stage, we can't help but wonder why Janet Jackson was seemingly blacklisted and he's apparently off the hook? Will Jackson be making an appearance if Jay-Z and Timberlake do snag the halftime spot? This performance could be truly epic or truly problematic depending on who you ask. Only time will tell. We'll see how this one plays out.
The Superbowl LII will take place on Feb. 4, 2018, in Minneapolis at the U.S. Bank Stadium.
