Actress Jennifer Beals (The L Word, Chicago Code) has
jumped on board to play the lead in the TNT pilot Proof, which will be executive
produced by actress Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer).
In the pilot, which is being described as a medical supernatural
show, Beals will play “a brilliant but somewhat jaded female surgeon with a bit of a
rough edge. Her attitude is heavily influenced by the devastating death of her
teenage son and her strained relationship with her only daughter. In the wake
of her son’s death, she begins investigating cases concerning reincarnations,
haunting, out-of-body experiences, and other supernatural phenomena.“
According to the show’s producers the show will deal with “proof” and answers to one of life’s most
mysterious questions about death – does the human experience truly end with
death or is there something else beyond it?”
The L Word star has been busy lately with other projects aside from Proof. She recently appeared in the Fox crime drama television series Chicago Code, which was eventually canceled. She also served as co-creator and executive producer of HBO’s hour-long series Laughs Unlimited along with Oren Moverman, Adena Chawke, Lauren Schuler Doner, and Tony Swofford.
