Nearly a month after The Wire and John Wick actor Lance Reddick died at age 60, new details regarding his reported cause of death have emerged.
On Thursday, TMZ obtained a copy of Reddick’s death certificate, listing his immediate cause of death as ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.
An attorney representing the Baltimore native’s family has contested the results, stating the information on the death certificate is “inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”
Reddick’s longtime attorney, James Hornstein, also denounced the medical findings in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, saying, “No autopsy was performed on Lance” and “To my knowledge, no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime ever indicated such conditions.”
As someone who developed a close relationship with Reddick over the years, Hornstein described his client as a “physically fit” person whose lifestyle consisted of “daily workouts” at his home and “utilized gym facilities” as a contractual requirement while on location for work, the publication stated.
“The information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle,” Hornstein said. “On behalf of [Lance’s wife] Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is not corroborated and is inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”
Shadow and Act reported that Reddick was found dead inside his Los Angeles home on Friday, March 17. At the time, law enforcement said the actor’s cause of death was natural.
In the days leading up to his death, Reddick was on tour for the fourth installment of the John Wick franchise.
The popular series’ premiere was held in New York on Wednesday, March 15, with Reddick captured in an Instagram post, relaxing at home with his four dogs.
“On screen and off, it’s no surprise I love spoiling my dogs,” he wrote in the post’s caption.
