Jonathan Majors‘ trial over domestic violence and harassment charges has been delayed for a later date.

The 33-year-old made a court appearance in New York Criminal Court on Thursday, as the trial date was initially set for today. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the prosecution said they were not ready because attorneys were still working to obtain discovery.

Majors wore a gray suit and carried a Bible as he entered the courtroom holding hands with girlfriend and actor, Meagan Good. In the two-minute hearing, Judge Rachel S. Pauley announced the new trial date is Sept. 6.

As Blavity reported, the Creed III actor was arrested on March 25 and charged with strangulation, harassment and assault. His ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, 30, alleged to police that he attacked her following a domestic violence dispute, and she reportedly went to a hospital after sustaining injuries to her head and neck.

Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has maintained his innocence throughout the process and stated the alleged victim had a history of assaulting the actor. Since then, he pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, and he shared his version of what happened at a Chinatown precinct in June.

In a written complaint, Majors said Jabbari was “drunk and hysterical” the night of the incident. She was reportedly angry and accused him of receiving text messages from another woman, the New York Post reported. He denied physically injuring her and stated she also has a history of abuse and stealing luxury items from the Marvel star, according to Sportskeeda.

The case has had several developments over the past several months. In April, Jabbari was granted a temporary order of protection against Majors, with no communication allowed between them. His defense team also claims to have text messages in which Jabbari appears to recant her allegations, TMZ reported.

Majors has been dropped from several films and has lost endorsement deals since the allegations were announced.
