NBC never did pick up the women's prison drama pilot Bad Girls – an adaptation of a UK series – that Jurnee Smollett was a star of. But she'll return to the network for a stint on the Jekyll-and-Hyde-ish thriller, Do No Harm.
Smollett will join the midseason series for 3 episodes, playing the daughter of Phylicia Rashad’s character, Dr. Vanessa Young – the "strong and determined" chief of surgery who leads by example, as well as boss to the neurosurgeon with the split personality, played by Steven Pasquale.
The program revolves around a brilliant neurosurgeon and his dangerous alter-ego that disrupts his personal and processional life.
Do No Harm premieres Thursday, January 31 at 10/9c after 30 Rock‘s one-hour series finale.
Smollett will next be seen on the big screen in Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.
