Laverne Cox's star has continuously risen. From groundbreaking roles in scripted series to producing an Emmy award winning documentary, her advocacy and hustle knows  no end. Now, the Orange Is the New Black star will be embarking on yet another journey in her career that could be big.

Cox has accepted a role in a new ABC show called The Trustee, Deadline reports. The hour-long comedy is centered around the hijinks of a community of characters in a police department. The series is also said to star Meaghan Rath. The announcement describes The Trustee as a "fun, female buddy cop comedy." Cox will star as an convicted felon who is being allowed to finish her incarceration assisting the police department; Rath, on the other hand, will play a hard-nosed detective who likes to do things by the book. The two team up, and find that despite, or perhaps because of, their very different views on justice, they make a highly effective team.

The pilot will be written by Jay Scherick and David Ronn (of Smurfs fame) and housed under Brownstone Productions.

Way to work, Laverne!
