Côte Ouest, one of Africa’s largest content distributors, has entered a 5-year agreement with Viacom for the exclusive rights to distribute Viacom content across the continent, excluding South Africa.
The deal includes rights to titles those in the USA will recognize, like Real Husbands of Hollywood, Let’s Stay Together and Reed Between the Lines – all BET series (BET is owned by Viacom in case you didn’t know).
This new content distribution deal is one of a handful Côte Ouest has signed with US companies; it already has TV and film content distribution deals with Disney, CBS and Time Warner.
The company also has an exclusive partnership with Brazil’s Globo TV for a portfolio that includes the latest hit telenovelas, as well as feature films and documentaries.
Côte Ouest is a privately owned, independent film and television distribution company, widely recognized as Africa’s unrivaled leader in the arena of sales and distribution of audio-visual content for and from Africa. Established in 1997, by Bernard Azria, since its launch, Cote Ouest has seen sustained commercial growth, distributing annually to 75 TV channels over 42 markets an average of 20,000 hours of programs, mostly soap operas and telenovelas, but also feature films, series and TV movies, as well as animation targeting youth.
Reporting a 30% year-on-year growth in sales activity for the first half of 2013, the company continues to bolster its position within the continent and on the global stage, and build on this growth.
