There is a reason why NBC anchor Lester Holt has that smile on his face.

There wasn’t really any doubt that Holt would be successful since he officially took over as the permanent anchor of "NBC Nightly News" after Brian Williams, but, in the last three months he’s had the job, he has definitely solidified NBC’s lead as the No. 1 network newscast.

According to the most recent ratings, Holt has been No.1 every week, averaging a very impressive 9 million viewers daily, compared to his closest competitor, "ABC World News Tonight" with David Muir, which attracts anywhere from 7 to 8 million viewers daily.

"CBS Evening News" with anchor Scott Pelley has seen an increase in viewers over the past year, but still trails the other two newscasts, with a daily average of 6.5 million viewers.

In fact, according to the New York Post, Holt’s ratings are so strong that ABC lately has been forced to attracting "big get" interviews with the likes of Hillary Clinton and Pope Francis. Unfortunately both of them have been rating disappointments for ABC News.

In fact, according to the Post, things have gotten so bad at ABC over its lack of success at beating Holt, that Muir "is being nicknamed ‘Anchor Monster’” by network staffers, after repeatedly losing his temper with his crew over being beaten in the ratings by (Holt).
