Should Latto have censored herself during a recent conversation with a pint-sized reporter?
That’s the question on everyone’s mind following the re-circulation of an encounter between the “Big Energy” rapper and Taylen Biggs — an 8-year-old fashion critic and content creator who has been dubbed “Mini Wintour,” according to her website.
Biggs caught up with Latto at the 2022 Harper’s BAZAAR ICONS Party, which went down about three weeks ago, and asked her a few questions — including an inquiry regarding how the rapper would describe her personal style.
“I think I’m authentic. I think I give a modern, sexually liberated woman,” Latto tells the young reporter.
“You’ll learn about that later,” the 23-year-old adds.

While this TikTok was initially uploaded back on Sept. 12, a Twitter user recently caused it to gain traction by re-sharing the clip and critiquing Latto’s answer.
“Love Latto, but this wouldn’t have been my answer for a little girl,” the user wrote beneath the video.

The tweet soon began to pick up some steam, and others agreed that Latto’s wordage was unnecessary, given the fact that the reporter is only 8 years old.
This was very inappropriate.
An “I’m a very authentic and free-spirited person” would’ve sufficed for a child that age.
People no longer understand that there’s a time and place for everything.

There are definitely “little kid” ways to say that same thing. Like modern, confident, loving and appreciating the body that I have, friendly/social, “feeling free to enjoy adulthood”. Who says “sexually liberated” to the babies!🤣

All she had to say was authentic

Users took it a step further and proceeded to straight-up bash Latto and seemingly question her character.
Trying to brainwash a child with thotery disguised as empowerment is beyond me pic.twitter.com/4IfMivGxFK

Imagine talking about sexual libration to a child that’s mad weird.

On the other hand, people also attempted to shut the naysayers down by saying that Latto was being her authentic self and Biggs shouldn’t have been in that situation, to begin with.
why should Latto have to censor herself? her music is very vulgar and explicit.. if it’s anyone to blame it’s the little girls parents pic.twitter.com/llcn06uJ65

It’s an adult music industry event with a random kid there interviewing for her tik tok. No offense but Latto was around adults and didn’t have to censor herself. The little girl not even supposed to be there anyway

Others tweeted that people were seriously overreacting.
Latto said “sexually liberated” and y’all heard her say “get out there and start fuckin lil mama” https://t.co/BR0YDrJJjb

I really refuse to acknowledge any one being genuinely scandalized by that Latto clip, like y’all can’t be for real 🫤
— The Local Sun (@DanieTHBee) September 30, 2022
However, many users shut this sentiment down and doubled down on their opinion that Latto was in the wrong and people are just trying to give her a pass.
Nah, not us trying to frame this as some sort of sex education? Did her parents/guardians consent to Latto being the person to speak to her about that on the red carpet in a public space? There’s no way *this* is the example to use for teaching kids sexual liberalism. Behave. https://t.co/Aol3zPJVlM

It’s funny if a male would’ve said this y’all would say he weird and a pedo

We should also note that, aside from the discussion around the appropriateness of Latto’s comment, Twitter users also laughed about how lost Biggs appeared to be about what the rapper said.
