Hitting South by Southwest this year? So is America’s First Family. SXSW has has announced that both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are scheduled to appear during keynote conversations at this year’s event.

President Obama, is scheduled to appear on Friday, March 11th for a conversation about civic engagement in the 21st Century. The conversation will feature Evan Smith, CEO/Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Tribune and will occur on the opening day of SXSW Interactive. The hosts add, “The President will call on the audience to apply their ideas and talents to make technology work for us – especially when it comes to tackling big challenges like increasing participation in the political process and fighting climate change.”

The First Lady is scheduled to speak on Wednesday, March 16th to discuss the Let Girls Learn initiative, a White House Initiative designed to help girls around the world complete their education. The event will occur during SXSW Music. Details regarding time, location and streaming are said to be announced on the SXSW website soon.

If you were afraid to ask, South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual event held in Austin, Texas. The 30 year old event is a series of conferences and festivals designed to foster creative and professional growth. Last week, we reported that the DNC will hold a fundraiser in Austin during SXSW featuring rapper, J. Cole.
